Workers were dispatched Tuesday to remove the graffiti at Hawthorne Elementary School’s blacktop playground, which was spray painted with offensive language and symbols.
Quinn Hudson, DeKalb County Schools public information officer, told Channel 2 Action News that because the spray paint graffiti was done on asphalt at the school on Calladium Drive in Atlanta, the surface would have to be repainted and can’t be sand blasted off.
Officials expected the painting job to be completed by noon
Students were to be kept from the scene for the time being.
