A woman was killed early Tuesday when a massive tree sliced through her northwest Atlanta home.

Clementine Harrison, 65, died after a tree came down on her home in the 2600 block of Ridgemore Road the morning of New Year’s Eve.

Firefighters went to the house about 4:15 a.m. after hearing reports that someone was inside, according to Atlanta fire spokesman Sgt. Cortez Stafford.

Crews told Channel 2 Action News that the woman was trapped in her bedroom.

Atlanta firefighters said a woman who was trapped inside, has died.

Authorities said they were able to speak to the woman when they first arrived. Firefighters worked for two hours to reach her before the rescue effort became a recovery operation.

A team that specializes in collapsed buildings was called to remove the woman from the home. Her body was found and crews left the scene before noon.
