A woman was killed Tuesday afternoon when a home caught on fire in DeKalb County, authorities said.

Crews were dispatched to the two-story home along Troy Cove Road near I-285 about 2 p.m., DeKalb fire spokesman Capt. Dion Bentley said.

The 62-year-old woman was discovered in her living room and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

A family member who was in the home’s basement at the time was able to escape, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The fire has since been extinguished, but investigators are still working to determine what caused it.
