Three teenage suspects were arrested Tuesday for their alleged roles in a northwest Atlanta home invasion and shooting that injured a father and terrorized his family, police said.

The arrests bring the number of suspects in the Sumter Street case to four, said Atlanta police spokesman Sgt. Greg Lyon. All four suspects were also indicted by a Fulton County Grand Jury on Tuesday, two weeks after the Aug. 16 incident, Lyon said.

Brandon Jerome Smith. 18, was previously arrested and is believed to be the gunman who shot homeowner Michael Lash in both legs, according to police. The three additional suspects are juveniles, and their names and charges were not released. The three teens surrendered Tuesday, Lyon said.

The suspects have been indicted on numerous charges, including home invasion, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery and cruelty to children, Channel 2 Action News reported.

On Aug. 16, Lash, his wife and the couple’s two young children had just returned home from a vacation when two teenagers approached Lash and asked for a car jack before forcing their way into the family’s home.

Michael Lash was shot twice — once in each leg — as he tried to stop the suspects. His wife, Whitney Lash, heard the shots, grabbed the couple's 6-month-old daughter and ran toward a back door. The suspects fired two shots at the mother, but they missed her as she ran out the back door and to a nearby home for help. Several suspects then ransacked the family's home, according to police.

Lash was released from the hospital and continues to recover from his injuries.
