One man is dead and three others were injured in a shooting that rocked the capital city of Ottawa Wednesday morning.

According to Ottawa Police, the shooting happened in downtown around 7:30 a.m. Police were called to the scene after reports of multiple gun shots.

Officers found four people injured. Three were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and one has been confirmed deceased.

One of the victims was a 15-year-old, who is expected to recover. Police have identified all four victims as male.

Police said they have secured the scene, which is not considered an active shooter situation. The suspect, however, is still at large, and police believe this was a “targeted shooting.”

Ottawa Police Chief Peter Sloly said six people have been shot in the first eight days of the new year:

The shooting was reported in an apartment building in the 400 block of Gilmore Street.
