Bonnaroo will not happen in 2020

The venerable Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival has canceled its plans to reschedule the festival in September, organizers announced Thursday.

The music festival, which takes place in Manchester, Tennessee, will not take place Sept. 24-27 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 20th anniversary of the arts and music extravaganza will now happen between June 17-June 20, 2021, according to a news release.

“Our annual time together on the Farm is nothing short of magical, but out of an abundance of caution and for the health and safety of all Bonnaroovians, artists, staff, partners and our community, this is a necessary reality. More information on lineup, camping and accommodations will be available at a later date,” according to the statement.

This year’s lineup was slated to feature musical acts including Tool, Lizzo, Leon Bridges, Tenacious D, Tola, Lana Del Rey, Brittany Howard and Jason Isbell. The event was scheduled in June but was later postponed for September dates due to the coronavirus outbreak.

There will still be a virtual gathering Sept. 24-27 that will feature some moments from musicians who performed in the past, according to the news release.

"We're planning a weekend-long virtual festival on the rescheduled Bonnaroo dates this fall (September 24-27, 2020) for a very special virtual Bonnaroo weekend including some of our favorite moments from past and present, along with some special surprises. Details will be coming soon."
