Miami Twp. is ending a contract with a firm for the marketing of more than 40 acres of vacant land near the Austin Boulevard interchange.
The township is severing an agreement it adopted with Juniper CRE Solutions in December 2016 with plans to develop multiple acres it owns on Wood Road, land a township official has called a “cornerstone” of the Austin Center area, a jobs, entertainment and traffic corridor which includes Austin Landing.

Juniper officials told the township in 2017 it had planned to market the land at the southwest quadrant of Austin’s intersection with Interstate 75 to target aerospace and defense jobs “quite heavily,” while also looking at medical and logistics facilities.
The land includes a retention basin, and officials said not all of it can be developed.
Township trustees voted last week to end the contract, providing the Cleveland company with a 30-day notice, records show.
The resolution approved by trustees states “it is no longer in the best interest” of the township to maintain the contract.
