The bounty of fresh produce and other local foods is often associated with warmer weather, but several metro Atlanta farmers markets are extending the season to include winter.
Check out these 5 winter farmer markets to get your fix of fresh veggies as well as plenty of other treats:
Suwanee Farmers Market, Town Center Park, 330 Town Center Ave., Suwanee
Suwanee's farmers market recently extended its season into winter as it continues to open on the second Saturday of each month through April. Check out the market's produce, flowers and baked goods from 9-11 a.m., and stay and enjoy Suwanee's 10-acre Town Center Park and its restaurants and shops.

Decatur Farmers Market, 308 Clairemont Ave., Decatur.
The market is one of six Community Farmers Markets in the area, and it's held on the lawn of First Baptist Church of Decatur. Vendors include Brasstown Beef and Freewheel Farm. The market is open Wednesdays from 4-7 p.m. through Dec. 21 and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. through Dec. 17. Starting Jan. 11, only the Wednesday market will be open.
Freedom Farmers Market at the Carter Center, 453 Freedom Parkway NE, Atlanta
Find local produce, meats, cheeses and more, plus plenty of prepared foods, at Freedom Farmers Market. A pop-up tent features a different restaurant each week. The market is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. through December and will open from 9 a.m.-noon in January and February.

Morningside Farmers Market, 1393 N. Highland Ave., Atlanta
Open every Saturday year-round from 8-11:30 a.m., Morningside encourages shoppers to get to know the farmers who are producing and selling the food. The market requires all of its produce to be certified organic, and it also features locally produced meats raised on organic GMO-free feed. It's located next door to Morningside Kitchen restaurant, and free parking is available in Morningside Village plaza parking lot across the street.
Peachtree City Farmers Market, 215 Northlake Drive, Peachtree City
Over 50 farmers and artisans meet on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Peachtree City Farmers Market, which is held year-round. You'll be able to buy produce, homemade breads, grass-fed meats, jams, goat cheese and more. And if you're still finishing up (or just starting!) your holiday shopping, check out the Hometown Holiday Market, which runs through Dec. 21 and adds additional vendors selling wares such as art, toys, jewelry and bath and body products.
