The clouds are expected to clear and the sunshine will return for Tuesday. But the cold weather isn’t going anywhere, forecasters said.

Temperatures at the bus stop will be in the upper 20s Tuesday morning, according to chief meteorologist Glenn Burns with Channel 2 Action News. Although the precipitation has ended, leftover puddles and moisture on the roads could cause black ice in the metro area, the National Weather Service warned.

By late morning, temperatures will be above freezing, but a chilly day is on the way.

“Maybe a little bit of a warm-up by 3 p.m.,” Burns said.

But temperatures will warm only to the upper 40s. Wednesday will be slightly warmer, with highs reaching the middle to upper 50s, Burns said.

Temperatures cool again Thursday, when there is a slight chance of rain. The weekend should bring warmer temperatures, Burns said.
