Grease caused a Gwinnett County sewer spill Tuesday.

The spill, at a manhole at 1900 Buford Highway in Duluth, led to about 1,673 gallons of sewage entering an unnamed tributary of Suwanee Creek.

The Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources learned of the spill just before 8 a.m. and stopped it shortly after 9 a.m.

Workers put up signs letting people know of the spill. They also raked the area and spread lime to mitigate its effects.
