Clayton County is using new software to improve its management of contract bidding.

The south metro Atlanta community will use e-commerce tech from Georgia Purchasing Group, an e-sourcing solution from Bidnet Direct, to track the bidding process and make it more transparent, the county said.

Vendors doing business with the county can register online at www.bidnetdirect.com/georgia to access upcoming solicitations, the county said.

Government agencies using the Georgia Purchasing Group can track full business details of vendors who view a request for proposal, download related documents and verify if a vendor sees an addendum.

“With the Georgia Purchasing Group, we can also see whether or not a vendor who downloads our bids is a minority business, small business, or local,” Carol J. Rogers, Clayton County’s director of central services, said. “This level of tracking, both pre-and post-award, was not possible from our website and it is very helpful for auditing and showing due diligence.”
