Jim Beard, the city of Atlanta’s chief financial officer, has been named to the board of directors of Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB), which regulates securities firms, banks and advisors that engage in municipal securities and advisory activities.

His term will begin on Oct. 1.

“I look forward to adding my voice to the important discussions and work as the industry undertakes several critical initiatives,” Beard said. “The municipal marketplace is critical to cities, counties and states in addressing outstanding capital needs in roads, bridges, sidewalks, water and wastewater, and a host of other infrastructure requirements that make this country work.”

Beard has served as the Atlanta’s CFO since 2011.
