All southbound lanes of Ga. 400 were blocked for nearly an hour early Monday following a wreck that police said was caused by a wrong-way driver.

The wreck happened around 5 a.m. on between the old Toll Plaza and Lenox Road.

According to Atlanta police Sgt. Greg Lyon, a 2011 Chrysler Sebring that was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes struck a southbound 2010 Honda Odyssey head-on.

The Honda driver, Ali Khadivi, suffered lacerations to his hand and complained of chest pains, and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

The Chrysler driver, Mercedes Houston, was unable to give police a statement due to her injuries, Lyon said. She was also taken to Grady.

Lyon said both drivers had to be cut from their vehicles.

Mark Arum in the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center said all southbound lanes of the highway were shut down for about 45 minutes.
