Before running away from sheriff’s deputies, an Atlanta man accused of stealing copper wiring from electrical boxes told them his name. Only it wasn’t correct.
The man identified himself as Travis Haley, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office said. But he’s actually Charles Russell Haley, the sheriff’s office said Friday.
Haley's two alleged accomplices were arrested and jailed after they were caught in the act of breaking into electrical boxes along I-85, the AJC previously reported.
Josephus Taylor, 52, and Gail V. Santelli, 58, both of Atlanta, were arrested and charged with criminal damage in the first degree and possession of tools for the commission of a felony, police said. Both were being held without bond Friday in the Troup County jail.
Haley, 52, has eluded capture. He is about 5-foot-11 with hazel eyes and brown hair that is possibly shoulder length, police said. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call investigators at 706-883-1616 or Troup County Crimes Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
