For the last few weeks, we’ve heard about the lack of refuse collection in the city.
“As a follow-up, we had lawn and leaf pickup on part of Greenwood Avenue, NE, but as far as I can tell, not on the surrounding streets. I’ve seen articles in the AJC about missed pickups in other neighborhoods, so this is a bigger issue than my neighborhood,” wrote a concerned reader.
We sent the issue back to the city for an update.

Joe Palladi has an issue with Cheshire Bridge Road.
“I have made comments before concerning the poor condition of Cheshire Bridge Road - its pavement, sidewalks and lack of turn lane storage. The city has ignored this corridor except for two short streetscape improvements near Piedmont,” he wrote.
Palladi said a fire had compromised the bridge structure.
He said it took over five years to rebuild the bridge on Powers Ferry Road at Chastain Park. GDOT finally had to step in.
“Many restaurants along Cheshire Bridge Road had to endure lockdown due to Covid. They were finally getting back on their feet attracting patrons back. Now the access has been altered by the closing of this bridge along with rerouting traffic to other routes including residential streets,” he added.
Palladi said the city has rezoned and allowed many higher-density developments, including apartments in this corridor.
“It’s about time they spend some time and money improving the transportation in this corridor,” Palladi wrote.
We sent the issue to the city.
