Rezoning approved in Hampton

The Hampton City Council voted at a recent regular meeting to approve a rezoning from C-3 (heavy commercial) to OI (office-institutional) for a 2.05-acre piece of property at 704 and 708 Manassas Street, one block east of Hwy. 19/41 and directly across the highway from Atlanta Motor Speedway.

According to a city staff report, the purpose of the zoning change is to allow for the development of a senior assisted living facility at the site, which is currently vacant and undeveloped. Officials said the facility is consistent with the city’s future land use plan and comprehensive plan. Information: hamptonga.gov.
