A handful of Georgia National Guard personnel have been assigned to lend a hand at Piedmont Henry Hospital amid the latest COVID-19 surge that has strained a number of medical facilities across the state. The hospital released a statement Aug. 25 confirming that it was one of several in Georgia to which Gov. Brian Kemp ordered the deployment of extra help.

The hospital will receive medics who can assist with nursing duties as well as support personnel who can help in areas such as environmental services, transport, and dietary services, according to the statement. Hospital officials are encouraging vaccination, mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing. Information: piedmonthenry.org.
