A $2,567,250 purchase for new buses was approved by the Henry County Board of Education at a recent regular meeting. The vote was unanimous.
Funding for the acquisition is coming from the latest extension of the E-SPLOST which was approved by voters in March of this year.
According to officials, the district is acquiring 15 72-passenger buses, five 48-passenger special needs buses with lifts and five 14-passenger buses. All of these vehicles are air-conditioned Blue Bird models and will be from the 2022 or 2023 model years.
Reimbursement from the state through the Alternative Fuel Bus Funding Grant will amount to $200,000 for the gas-powered and propane-powered vehicles. Information: henry.k12.ga.us.
