The Peachtree Corners City Council voted recently to deny a request for a new restaurant on a 0.323-acre parcel at Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Technology Parkway. The small property currently contains decorative landscaping at the entrance to Technology Park.
The applicant, Sandi Properties of San Diego, submitted a revised site plan for a small, 1200-square-foot restaurant with 12 parking spaces to the rear of the building.
The planning commission noted three significant concerns with the revised plan. First, the comprehensive plan does not support free-standing restaurants in this area. Second, the end-user of the restaurant is currently unknown since this is a speculative project. Third, the revised site plan shows a median on Technology Parkway that does not currently exist. Concern was expressed over potential traffic issues at this intersection.
Despite representatives for the project in attendance at the public hearing who attempted to address these concerns, the city chose to deny the request based on the planning commission’s recommendation.
