Drivers at three busy Gwinnett intersections will have relief soon. The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners recently approved rapid response construction at three locations.

The contract approved Nov. 5 includes extending the northbound left turn lane on Sugarloaf Parkway at Ga. 120/Duluth Highway, the westbound left turn lane on Old Norcross Road at U.S. 29/Ga. 8/Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road and the westbound left turn lane on Old Norcross Road at Cruse Road.

“The objective of all of our projects is to improve safety and mobility,” said Lewis Cooksey, director of the Gwinnett Department of Transportation. “We are all committed [to] complete these improvements in a short timeframe.”

Commissioners awarded the $359,580 contract to Ohmshiv Construction, LLC. Funds for the fast-tracked improvements come from the 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax program.
