Peachtree City will pay the Fayette County Development Authority $95,000 in the coming year to help promote local business interests. The contract was approved on Oct. 21 with a 5-0 consent agenda vote by the City Council. The amount was already included in the city’s FY2022 budget, which began Oct. 1. The FCDA works on behalf of the county and its municipalities and is financially supported proportionately based on each region’s population.

Peachtree City’s current contract stipulates that the authority—consisting of President Megan Baker, three staff members and a nine-member board—will reach out to 25 major city employers to provide support for workforce retention and expansion, and will produce quarterly reports of each meeting. The FCDA will also create an annual report “summarizing the health of the major employers” in the city and recommending ways to enhance support of those businesses.
