Wellstar Health System receives recognition awards

This is the first time Wellstar has appeared on the People magazine list

Wellstar Health System, based in Marietta, has received awards - national and local, according to a Wellstar statement on Sept. 8.

One of the largest, integrated health systems in Georgia, Wellstar has received the Great Place to Work and PEOPLE magazine’s 2021 PEOPLE Companies that Care® and Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2021 Healthiest Employers.

With Wellstar’s first time being named to this list by PEOPLE magazine, this year Wellstar came in at 50th place of the100 best companies for which to work in the nation.

One of only four Georgia-based companies and one of only six health systems included in the ranking, Wellstar was highlighted for its LGBTQ+ primary care family practice in Atlanta and for the more than $900 million invested last year in charity care, unreimbursed care and community programs.

For example, the “Wellstar on Wheels: Mobile Market” program is a joint initiative with Atlanta-based Goodr to increase food access to vulnerable communities in Wellstar’s service areas and provide re-distribution of food resources for people in need.

The PEOPLE Companies that Care award is based on analysis of survey responses from more than 5 million current employees across all industries and U.S. geographies.

Companies were considered only if they are a Great Place to Work-Certified™ organization.

Also, Wellstar was recognized on the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2021 Healthiest Employers list in the “Extra Large Company” category as one of only two health systems included, according to Wellstar on Sept. 8.

The assessment measures wellness programming in six categories: leadership commitment, foundational components, strategic planning, communication/marketing, programming/interventions and reporting/analytics.

Also, Wellstar invests in its more than 24,000 team members across Georgia, with wellness rooms, concierge services, fitness facilities/services, childcare support, paternity leave, wellness apps and mental health services/hotlines, Wellstar said.

Wellstar provides access to “compassionate, high-quality care” through its 11 hospitals, 300+ medical office locations, nine cancer centers, 74 rehabilitation centers, three hospice facilities, one retirement village, 34 imaging centers, 17 urgent care locations and five health parks, Wellstar added.
