A fire broke out in a mobile home in a northwest Atlanta community Wednesday morning.
Atlanta firefighters were called to the Central MH Village mobile home park in the 1500 block of Chattahoochee Avenue around 5:40 a.m., Battalion Chief Derek Hullender said. There was heavy fire, but crews were able to contain it to the unit that was burning and no fire injuries were reported.
One woman injured her ankle evacuating a home next door and was treated at the scene.
At the height of the blaze, smoke could be seen billowing into the sky above the mobile home park.
Hullender said the area doesn’t have many fire hydrants, so access to enough water was an issue. Crews were able to bring in water by using about 2,000 feet of fire hose.
He said the fire department rarely gets calls to go to the mobile home park. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
