World Changers Church International will hold a huge back-to-school giveaway that will help thousands of metro students start off the school year on the right foot.
Each student will receive a free backpack and other school supplies but receive health checks and haircuts during the 11th annual “Back 2 School” event, which will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church, 2500 Burdett Rd. in College Park.

In the past, nearly 10,000 parents and children have been attended, according to the church. The supplies are first-come, first-serve. About 2,000 backpacks will be given away, according to a church spokeswoman.
Principals from area schools have also been on hand to meet new and returning students and their families.
The event will be held on the same day at more than two dozen WCCI fellowship churches around the nation.
The backpacks will include a welcome letter from WCCI founders and senior pastors Creflo and Taffi Dollar, which features a daily prayer for parents to say for their children.
The event won’t only be about the classroom only. There will be an inflatable play center and other activities. Food trucks will be on site, while visitors will be entertained with basketball skills by the Air Elite Dunkers, music from WCCI’s youth ministry team and a fashion show.
