3 ways to keep your air conditioner running properly
With the heat index on the rise in many parts of the country, making sure your air conditioner is working properly becomes extremely important.
WHBQ sat down with Derrick Campbell, who works at Best Care Home Services in Memphis, which specializes in heat and air repair.
“Heat and air systems are similar to a car (in) that they need to have regular preventive maintenance," Campbell said.
Campbell said there are three ways to make sure you’re not left without air this summer:
1.) Keep your unit clean
2. Replace the unit after 15 years
3. Know how the unit works
As the temperatures go up, so do the number of units that have problems – but not because of heat.
It’s because of humidity, Campbell said.
"Most people don't realize their central air system is a giant dehumidifier," Campbell said.
