With the first day of fall coming Friday, Sept. 22, it’s the official start to fall festival season −marked by colorful leaves, cooler temps and the promise of the holidays.

This week's Best of Atlanta poll wants to know which fall festival is your favorite to revel in the fall colors and cooler weather.

When fall arrives in Atlanta, we head for the hills. Here are five family-friendly getaways in North Georgia.

Speaking of heading north, here are five often-overlooked mountains in our state.

Vote for your favorite fall fest below, or nominate it the comments. If you’d like to submit a write-in nominee for best fall festival, please email your pick to stephanie.toone@ajc.com.
