In Georgia, and across the country, the craft brewery industry has been booming in recent years. To sort out the best of the best, a new list ranked the most popular brewery in each state.

To determine popularity, the folks at the lifestyle website House Method considered factors like Yelp reviews and ratings, as well as a brewery's following on social media.

In Georgia, SweetWater Brewing Company was crowned No. 1.

SweetWater is often hailed as one of the first big players in Georgia’s craft beer scene, with its flagship pour, 420 Extra Pale Ale.

Since 2017, when the Georgia law around breweries changed, places have opened their doors to beer lovers across town. The new law allowed breweries to sell beer directly to customers and nixed the previous rule requiring tours in order to sell from taprooms.

According to the Brewers Association, Georgia was home to 82 craft breweries in 2018. That's up from just 21 in 2011 and 53 in 2016. Nationwide, there were more than 7,000 craft breweries operating last year, which was nearly double the number open in 2014.

In addition to SweetWater, House Method's list gave a nod to four other popular breweries in the state. You can explore the full list here.

The most popular breweries in Georgia, according to the report:

1. SweetWater Brewing Co.

2. Creature Comforts Brewing Co.

3. Monday Night Brewing

4. Wild Leap Brewing Co.

5. Reformation Brewery

Six soldiers were honored, each receiving Meritorious Service Medals, Thursday for heroic actions responding to the shooting at Fort Stewart. “One of the things I can say unequivocally is that the fast action of these soldiers — under stress and under trauma and under fire — absolutely saved lives from being lost,” U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll told reporters as the six soldiers stood near him Thursday. “They are everything that is good about this nation.” (Hyosub Shin/AJC)
