Pun absolutely intended, they're pretty sharp over there at Eagle Eye Book Shop.

Three days before Christmas, the beloved North Decatur Road independent bookstore is out with the news that it's planning a Twelve Days After Christmas sale.

“Eagle Eye is trying to change the idea of Christmas!” the store, a go-to source for new and used books, author appearances (John Lewis, Lisa Gardner) and signed editions, enthused in a release. “Christmas doesn’t end after the 25th, it starts on the 25th and ends January 5th! We celebrate this special 12 day holiday with our best sale of the year!

(Technically they're calling it the "12 Days of Christmas" sale; but the store isn't actually open on the 25th, so we took the liberty of editing the name a bit.)

Here's the deal that should really appeal to: book lovers who may not wind up finding the books they wanted — or enough of them — under the tree; expert shoppers getting an early jump on next year's gifts, or just anyone looking for something to do with (or without) pesky visiting relatives over the holidays:

When the event starts, new books will be 20 percent off, and used and “bargain” books 30 percent off. The savings increase each day through January 5th.

In addition, every day will be Tuesday during that period at the store which bills itself as home to “over 1 mile of new and used books.” That’s because Eagle Eye’s popular “Tuesday Red Dot” sale — when certain book and other store items are discounted 75 percent — will run throughout the 12-day sales event. You must be a Loyalty Club member to take advantage of Red Dot sales.

Eagle Eye Books, located at 2076 N. Decatur Rd., is open 10 - a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays - Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. But its outdoor table of bargain books never "closes;"if you see something you want to buy after hours, they say, just slip the money through the door.
