Q: I’m trying to find a local source for soup mix in bulk. It’s much too expensive to order online with shipping costs. I’m not stuck on any one flavor, but if split pea were available, I’d be interested in that as a possibility. Thanks for any leads you might find for me. R. Horn, email
A: I have just the place for you where you can select from bulk soup mixes in four flavors. Check out Sevananda Natural Foods Market, 467 Moreland Ave., Atlanta, 404-681-2831. Here you'll find split pea, black bean and lentil soup mixes for $8.59 a pound, and sweet corn chowder mix priced at $9.69 per pound. By the way, Sevananda boasts a generous bulk department that includes pasta, soaps, soy sauce and local honey.
Q: I have been using Jean Nate silkening body powder with a puff for many years. All of a sudden it is no longer available. What happened and where can I find it? Thank you. Clara Lazar, Dunwoody
A: Clara, I'm afraid that Revlon, the company that owns Jean Nate, discontinued the citrus-scented bath powder at the end of last year. So, at this point, you're pretty much stuck with ordering from the little stock that's left online. Ingredients in Jean Nate body powder include talc, kaolin, fragrance, limonene, linalool, hydroxycitronellol, geraniol, citronellol and coumarin. You can order the powder with a puff through Amazon, and the least expensive price I found was $19.95. It's also available through walmart.com for $21 via a third-party shipper, so it doesn't qualify for in-store pick up. If you want to try a citrusy body powder made without talc, while you're on Amazon, you might consider Fromonda citrus IPA talc-free body powder. This powder boasts all natural ingredients — corn starch and baking soda — and essential oils. A 5-ounce can cost $9.97.
Q: I love your column, please keep up the good work. For many years of not being able to eat yogurt, I recently discovered Yoplait lactose-free strawberry flavor. The only place I have seen it is at Kroger, or at least in the Sandy Springs general area. However, as of last week they are no longer carrying it. I have asked Publix to carry it, but the manager said the strawberry was discontinued. When I talked with a rep of Yoplait, I was told that was not the case, so I don’t have good feelings of them carrying it. Could you please tell me where else I can buy it? Thank you. Jan Orlins, email
A: Janis, you'll have to take a bit of a drive to snag some of your favorite yogurt. I found the strawberry lactose-free Yoplait at Walmart, 2427 Gresham Road, Atlanta, 404-244-3034. Each 6-ounce cup costs 66 cents. Although other stores closer to you list the yogurt as a stock item, I didn't find it there. So, while this one isn't exactly in your neighborhood, at least you can stock up.
Q: Recently, I’ve been experimenting with false eyelashes and I really like how they look but I hate the tubes of adhesives. It’s very awkward for me to use the tube and it makes a mess. I’ve been looking for an adhesive with a brush. I think the brand is Duo. Do you know where I can find it somewhere near Cumming? Thank you. Kaye
A: Duo brush-on strip lash adhesive comes with a skinny brush for a smoother application. The white adhesive dries to a clear finish. You'll find it for $6.79 at Walgreens, 12305 Crabapple Road, Alpharetta, 678-393-9858.
