You child has just unwrapped that new bike or skate board for Christmas.

Now, where can he take it out for a little road test?

The Roswell Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs Department will provide “Holiday Toy Safe-Play Areas” in four city parks.

Specially barricaded areas in parking lots will be available from Dec. 25 through Jan. 3.

The following parks will have safe spaces:

  • Roswell Area Park, 10495 Woodstock Rd., parking lot by the football/multi-use fields

  • East Roswell Park, 9000 Fouts Rd., parking lot by the playground
  • Waller Park Extension, 160 Dobbs Drive., parking lot by the playground
  • Hembree Park, 850 Hembree Rd., parking lot by the playground

Families can bring bikes, scooters, skateboards, remote-control vehicles and other toys that require safe, open spaces.

A bit of warning for those drop-and-roll parents: These areas will not be staffed by the city. So if you plan to take your child to one of the designated areas, be prepared to spend a little quality family time. Adult supervision is highly recommended.
