Candy, costumes and contests: Ball Ground United Methodist Church will host its annual Trunk or Treat event at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26. Wondering what that is? Angie Gordon, the church's children's director, explained, "Trunk or Treat is a 'safe' trick or treat option held in our church parking lot. People register their vehicles and decorate their 'trunk' or back of their vehicle, and children go around the parking lot from trunk to trunk gathering treats. We also offer games and crafts to entertain the whole family." Rounding out the event will be food cooked by the Men's Group and costume contests for kids and adults. The event is free and open to the public, but canned goods and nonperishable food donations will be accepted to help stock the church's food pantry. Additional information, trunk rules and registration forms can be found at www.ballgroundchurch.org. 3045 Canton Highway, Ball Ground.
Pumpkin picking: Fall beckons fun, outdoor things like beautiful backdrops of colorful leaves and pumpkin picking, and Bridge to Grace Church is offering just that — coupled with a children's maze and free photos, now through Nov. 1. According to Roxanne Densmore, one of the organizers, "The (pumpkin) patch is a great way for our church volunteers to get to know the families and school groups. We also have a prayer box available for those individuals who'd like our prayer team to pray for them." Guests can enjoy the maze and photo area for free; proceeds from the pumpkin sales benefit a mix of community service projects.
