Album release: At 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, the Congregation Bet Haverim (CBH) String Ensemble will perform songs from its latest album, "Fire Flashing Up: Klezmer Dances for Strings," at Central Congregational United Church of Christ (CCUCC). The album's release coincides with the performance and will feature eight lively and soulful selections, braiding together the heritages of Eastern European Jewish dance tunes (klezmer) and classical chamber music — plus a few tango-inflected numbers that add spice. Gayanne Geurin, the musical director at CBH, said, "We are a small synagogue, yet we create some of the most dynamic and unique Jewish music to be found. The music created at CBH rises from gifted congregants who expand and interpret Jewish music genres." There are no tickets to purchase; however, a donation at the door is suggested. Sip and sing: While sipping brews and singing hymns in the back room at Manuel's Tavern, conversations about Christ will abound. Welcome to Beer and Hymns, a gathering for people who "have come to believe that church is way too formal and stuffy," said the Rev. Dr. Timothy M. Smith, or simply, Pastor Tim, senior pastor of Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. While Redeemer members will be present, the event is primarily designed for nonmembers. "The faith of the church can be expressed in a variety of contexts, and more importantly, you are welcome for who you are, as you are," Pastor Tim says. The group will meet at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, for an uplifting evening; be prepared to sing with gusto for God. Manuel's Tavern, 602 N. Highland Ave N.E., Atlanta. www.redeemer.org.

Contemporary Christian concert: It's a praise party with uplifting harmonies and messages of hope. Grammy-nominated and GMA Dove Award-winning Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, the gospel quartet that consistently delivers energetic and entertaining concerts, will be performing at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at Dunwoody Baptist Church's Worship Center. "While most gospel quartets are usually older men, Ernie Haase has put together four young men who share an exciting musical experience as well as a joyful message through song," said the Rev. Dorman Huggins, the worship leader at Dunwoody Baptist. The event is open to everyone; tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at www.itickets.com or by calling 1-800-965-9324. 1445 Mount Vernon Road, Dunwoody. www.dbc.org.
