Celebratory feast: The Feast of Absalom Jones will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Feb. 13 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Absalom Jones was born into slavery, but during his 72 years of his life, he grew to become a prominent leader and became the first ordained African-American priest of the Episcopal Church. The guest speaker will be Catherine Meeks, the chair of Atlanta's Beloved Community: Commission for Dismantling Racism and retired Clara Carter Acree Distinguished Professor of sociocultural studies at Wesleyan College.
