A special, third annual Easter egg hunt Sunday, March 20, is expected to draw scores of adults scouring a public park for one-of-a-kind, hand-painted wooden eggs.

There will be 50-plus wooden eggs designed by artists from Atlanta and beyond at this event called, the “Bomb Shells” art egg hunt. Egg hunters are encouraged to wear their spring Sunday best — festive bonnets, vibrant dresses, suits, floral ties, etc.

While Brownwood Park on Brownwood Avenue S.E. in East Atlanta will be dotted with plastic eggs filled with candy, the coveted find at this egg hunt will be the custom-made eggs. Each artist who participated in the event was given a wooden egg — and a green light to let their imagination go wild.

In previous years, the decorated eggs cover a wide range of designs including a moneycat, a Sister Louisa egg and one of the Mexican-American singer Selena, based on her 1994 album cover.

1. The art eggs? You only get to keep ONE. If you have an eagle eye and come across 4 bombshells and can’t decide which to keep, you’re playing eenie-meenie-minie-moe. Hoarding is never cool, no matter what your grandmother’s told you.

2. There are going to be smaller sized humans present. Do not mow children over for your art-finding ambitions. This isn’t even something we should have to post, but we felt like we needed two rules instead of just one. So, yeah.
