Light bulbs may smoke or catch fire

What: LED Light Bulbs, sold by Lighting Science Group

Why: Lighting Science Group is aware of 68 incidents of product failures, eight of which were accompanied by visible smoke or fire conditions. The incidents include damage to light sockets, melted fixtures, burned rugs, carpet and floors, damage to a circuit and to a lamp. There have been no reports of personal injuries.

What to do: Consumers should immediately remove the bulbs from sockets and lamps, and contact Light Science Group for replacement bulbs.

Ford’s child lock built incorrectly

What: Ford 2013 Focus, C-Max and Escape

Why: The left rear-door child lock was built incorrectly. As a result, the child lock may not engage when the operator uses normal force to activate the child lock.

What to do: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the affected rear-door latches and replace them as necessary for free. The recall began March 25, 2013. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 866-436-7332.
