In the 14-second clip, an orange tabby cat is dressed up in a monkey costume as its owner gives it a banana, which the "monkey cat" begins to lick. Viewers can't decide whether it's hilarious or borderline animal cruelty.

"It's clearly not enjoying it and restricted from getting out of the monkey suit," Michael Gpearson said.

"Cats are NOT toys to be forced in to silly costumes. For goodness sake it is an animal not a doll," Shirley Berry commented.

Others defended the video.

Although Tony Huber said he didn't condone the video he pointed out, "You can see the rest of the cat's body behind the costume if you look closely. Only the head is in the costume. Trust me, that cat would not just sit there if it was not ok with it!"

"Happy New Year! Year of the monkey cat!" wrote Brittney Arch.

YouTuber 10 Cats is known for uploading kitty content. Their past videos include cats dressed in Santa outfits and feasting on a chicken dinner.
