Jared Powers has been selected as the new chief executive officer of the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, effective March 1.

Powers, who is currently chief program officer for the agency, was selected after a six-month search. He succeeds Gail Luxenberg, who resigned last year.

As chief program officer, Powers oversees more than $17 million in programming revenue. Powers has been instrumental in growing the agency’s programming offering, enhancing the quality of programs, and improving customer service, according to a release about his appointment.

Powers joined the MJCCA in 2005 as director of sports and camping at its Shirley Blumenthal Park location.

He earned a degree in finance from the University of Florida and an MBA in finance from Georgia State University.
