Amanda Macy Hall’s nesting instinct involved creating inspirational design “mood boards” and saving ideas on Pinterest for her daughter’s nursery.

She looked at various wallpaper samples before choosing shiplap as a special wall treatment, which also became a DIY project. With help from Amanda’s parents, they labored over the DIY wall project for a couple of weeks before Macy James was born in December 2015.

“I went through a lot of ideas in my head. I wanted it to be really special,” she said. “It was really, really fun to start from scratch.”

The couple’s Chamblee ranch also mixes vintage items from relatives and Scott Antique Market with new-to-them furniture with classic Southern and rustic elements. The result is a comfortable, lived-in look for the young family.
