More proof that the movie "Wall-E" might have been prophetic: According to the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, adults who are obese now outnumber those who are overweight.
The Los Angeles Times says the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis found about 67.6 million Americans over the age of 25 were obese as of 2012, and an additional 65.2 million were overweight.
Researchers got their data, collected between 2007 and 2012, from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
The study found two out of every three women are overweight and three out of every four men. The study found 37 percent of women were obese and 35 percent of men. African-Americans had the highest rates of obesity among both sexes.
A variety of chronic health conditions come with that extra weight, including Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease – even cancer.
