Struggling to do away with that last 10 pounds you gained from your pregnancy? No worries. You're not alone in your weight loss journey. In fact, a few of our favorite Atlanta celebrities have endured the same battle. Take a tip from R&B singer Ciara and "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kandi Burruss for motivation.
"I did not drink anything but water, no juice, no soda, nothing for the first month and a half," Burruss said during a visit to Dr. Oz. "And no sweets because I'm a sweet eater, I love sweets; I can eat dessert after every meal. So I didn't eat any sweets."
“Breast-feeding is a major contributor," Burruss revealed during the same segment. "Doing that [eliminating sugar] with breast-feeding it just made the weight come off. And I’m actually smaller now than I was before I got pregnant.”
Registered Atlanta dietitian Nicole German Morgan agreed, stressing the importance of water intake. "Staying hydrated allows you to maintain a healthy milk supply and to continue to burn loads of calories from breast-feeding," she said. "Without water, the whole process slows."
Ciara said that once she received the thumbs up from her doctors after giving birth to her son in May 2014, she began hitting the gym five to-six days a week (two to three times per day!) She also switched up her eating plan, which allowed for the occasional burger and fries.
If you don't have the capacity to sweat it out like the "I Bet" songstress, adjusting your diet may be more feasible. Try eating oats and filling foods, such as lean deli meats, eggs, cottage cheese and Greek yogurt, to get rid of the extra baby weight.
