A World Health Organization (WHO) agency issued a warning Monday linking bacon and other processed meats to a cancer risk as high as that posed by cigarettes.

WHO's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) released its findings in Monday's edition of The Lancet Oncology, according to the reports.

Even before the report was released, a spokesperson for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association said there’s no scientific data to show a causal link between cancer and meat.
