Functional wood holders with style

Your stash of firewood needs to be easily accessible in the winter, so it often is placed on porches, decks or alongside a home. The wood holders, however, don’t need to be boring or an eyesore.

These six stylish log holders can add an eye-catching element to your outdoor decor. Some of these items are available through furniture stores and online retailers; others are sold to members of the trade, such as interior designers, and were on display during the International Gift and Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Market at AmericasMart Atlanta in January.

The Modern Box Trough by Elegant Earth (elegantearth.com) is finished in a muted grey with simple, clean lines. The 36-inch long trough can be flipped vertically or horizontally to display wood, on a covered or screened porch (suggested retail price $759).

The Twig furniture from Gold Leaf Design Group also is multi-functional. Use the piece as a firewood holder or flip it over to serve as a stool or side table (it's 14.5 inches long and 17.5 inches high). The furniture is made of aluminum, but appears to be made of gold-plated twigs, for a glamorous nature-themed piece. The line also includes a 37-inch-long bench.
