A Delta Air Lines flight attendant's initial refusal to believe that a black female passenger was actually a doctor has resulted in the hashtag #WhatADoctorLooksLike.

Black female physicians from across the country are turning to social media in support of  Dr. Tamika Cross, a Houston-based ob-gyn, who was on a flight when a fellow passenger fell ill and became unresponsive. The flight attendant reportedly didn't believe Cross was an actual doctor, though the attendant eventually let her render aid.

Cross said she was

humiliated and angry that her credentials were questioned and she believes it's because she was black.

Cross shared her experience on Facebook, eliciting thousands of responses: “I naturally jumped into Doctor mode,” she wrote in her post. The flight attendant asked what type of doctor she was and where she worked, according to Cross’s post.
