Be smart about health: A community health fair will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall at Cliftondale United Methodist Church, 4095 Stonewall Tell Road, College Park. There will blood pressure and glucose screenings, massages and exercises. Participants also will receive health and safety information. Marja Mills discusses "The Mockingbird Next Door": Author Marja Mills will discuss and sign copies of "The Mockingbird Next Door: Life With Harper Lee" at 7 p.m. July 25 in Carreker Hall at First Baptist Church Decatur, 308 Clairmont Ave. In 2004, Mills, a former reporter for The Chicago Tribune, moved next door to the reclusive Harper Lee, author of the classic "To Kill a Mockingbird." Discover the Bethel Cemetery, homecoming weekend: Homecoming weekend at Bethel United Methodist Church will be held Aug. 2-3 in Stockbridge. At 5 p.m. Aug. 2, there will be a "Discover Bethel Cemetery" tour, where visitors can learn about the history of the cemetery. An ice cream social, music and fun will follow the free tour. At 11 a.m. Aug. 3, there will be a homecoming celebration service. The guest preacher is the Rev. Judson "Jay" Hodges. Bring a covered dish for a fellowship dinner after the service. "Rosh Hodesh: It's A Girl Thing": An information meeting for "Rosh Hodesh: It's a Girl Thing" for sixth-grade girls will be held 4-5:30 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, 5342 Tilly Mill Road. The event is free. Parents and their daughters will get to ask questions about Rosh Hodesh: It's a Girl Thing, a program that draws on Jewish teachings to help girls in sixth grade navigate the complexities of adolescent life. This girls' group will meet one Sunday a month from Sept. 7 through May 3, 2015, and will focus on specific life lessons that draw on core Jewish values and practices to explore such issues as body image, friendship, family, assertiveness and social action.
