After a four year hiatus, Ben & Jerry’s is bringing back its popular Free Cone Day on April 3.

“We love making ice cream—but using our business to make the world a better place gives our work its meaning,” the company said in its announcement. The last Free Cone Day was in 2019, just before the pandemic hit.

“Every time you enjoy a scoop of Ben & Jerry’s, you’re showing us how much you care. We love you too, and Free Cone Day is our favorite way to show it!” said the company on its website.

Free Cone Day started in 1979 as a celebration for Ben & Jerry’s first full year in business. Over the years, it’s become a celebration of the Ben & Jerry’s community.

That community is known as much for its activism as for its ice cream. In recent years, the company has collaborated director Ava DuVernay, rapper Chance the Rapper and former NFL player Colin Kaepernick to create new flavors and raise money for worthy causes.

“This year’s extravaganza will be taking place on April 3rd, so be sure to mark your calendars, grab your friends and get ready to visit the nearest Scoop Shop,” the statement said.

To celebrate, visit any Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. on April 3. The main Atlanta-area location is at 312 North Highland Avenue.
