If you like beer and the great outdoors, this list will speak to you.

There's an array of metro Atlanta's beer festivals going on this summer and fall.

Here are the details on where and when to enjoy the beer and outdoors combo (The list will be updated as event details become available.):

Alpharetta Craft Beer Festival and 5k. 8 p.m., June 20. Price TBD. Milton Avenue, Alpharetta. 678-297-2811. worldshoppiest5k.com.

Atlanta loves craft beer. So it's no wonder we'd pair it with our exercise. Enter the Craft Beer Festival, featuring more than 100 craft beer vendors and a 5k run. Held on the streets of downtown Alpharetta with tasting to begin at 6 p.m, the race has a plot twist: The 5K Road Race begins two full hours after the drinking (at 8 p.m). All runners will receive a race T-shirt and a free beer to celebrate their finish. Visit worldshoppiest5k.com for information.

Oktoberfest. Sept. 8-11, Sept. 15-18, Sept. 22-Oct. 30. $8-10. 1074 Edelweiss Strasse, Helen. 706-878-1619. helenchamber.com.

Georgia's only traditional Alpine village brings Oktoberfest to life with German beers on tap, the sweet sounds of polka and its associated traditional dances, endless links of bratwurst and more. Not to be missed is the opportunity, or spiritual obligation as the case may be, to order Das Boot from King Ludwig's Biergarten. It's a beer, served in a large glass boot.

Oktoberfest begins on a long weekend schedule from Sept. 8 through Sept. 18, and resumes Sept. 22, at which point things are decidedly full time through the end of October. Visit www.helenchamber.com for more information and remember it's a long drive back from the North Georgia hills, so you might be wise to book a Helen hotel in advance of traveling.
