Whether you’re looking for a challenging run, stress relief from wedding planning or prepping for back to school, there is an activity for you this weekend in Cobb County.
Check out these events suitable for the whole family:
1. Free summer movie series: Pack a picnic basket and take your kids to watch a free screening of "The Good Dinosaur" this weekend presented by Kaiser Permanente.
The screening will take place on Friday, July 29. Movie starts at dusk, rain or shine, at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, 2245 Callaway Road, Marietta. Gate opens at 7:30 p.m. and food from concession stands will be available for purchase.
2. Atlanta Back 2 School Festival: Back to school can be hectic for both kids and parents. Have some fun and learn about health, education, art, and after-school care programs for families at the Back 2 School Festival Saturday, July 30.
Enjoy food from metro Atlanta restaurants caterers and food trucks while kids head to the fun zone, featuring inflatables, water slides, a rock climbing wall, bungee jumping and bouncy houses. Kids are encouraged to take swimsuits and a towel. General admission is free with donation of school supplies at the festival gate.
The event will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Jim R. Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Road, Marietta. Food costs vary by vendor and ride fees are set by the ride operator. Parking is $5. The back to school parade will begin at 11:30 a.m.
3. Dog Days 5K Run: Celebrate the hot summer at the 11th annual Dog Days 5K Run in Marietta. People of all ages are welcome to run, jog or walk the race, and enjoy great music, food and prize giveaways.
Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the race starts at 7:30 a.m. All race proceeds will be donated to Cobb County charities. The event will take place on Saturday, July 30 at the McCleskey-East Cobb YMCA, 1055 East Piedmont Road, Marietta.
4. Georgia Bridal Show: Getting married? Ease those wedding jitters at the Georgia Bridal show on Sunday, July 31.
Brides and grooms can meet wedding professionals and learn about wedding planning resources. Get the chance to browse through photographer’s pictures, taste cake and food samples from caterers, look at flowers, watch a fashion show of wedding dresses and tuxedos, and plan your honeymoon.
Admission cost is $12 at EliteEvents.com and $15 cash at the door. The bridal show runs from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 31 and will be located at the Cobb Galleria Centre, Two Galleria Parkway, Atlanta.
