“Africa in Athens” warehouse sale
You can take a bit of Africa home with you from a two-day warehouse sale in Athens.
Dubbed “Africa in Athens,” the annual sale is hosted by Mbare.com on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
Mbare works with artisans in several nations in Africa, including Senegal, South Africa, Mali, Ghana and Zimbabwe.
Shoppers can buy handmade and fair trade goods below wholesale prices. Items include baskets, handmade glassware and crafts.

ASO’s Talent Development Program concert
In observance of the 25th season of the Talent Development Program, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will take the music on the road to showcase talented young musicians from the Atlanta area.
Several musicians will perform on Nov. 30 at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta.
Since its inception, the TDP has helped musicians by providing training to hundreds of African-American and Latino students. Nearly 100 fellows have graduated from the program and gone on to attend top music schools, including the Julliard School, Curtis Institute of Music, Manhattan School of Music and the Peabody Institute.

Victorian Holiday at Oakland Cemetery
The Victorian Holiday at Oakland Cemetery returns Dec. 1 for its fourth year.
The free event, which will happen rain or shine, features holiday activities for the whole family including an artists’ market, wreath sale and a visit by Santa.
Also, the Holiday Tour of Eternal Homes returns to Victorian Holiday this year. Led by a Victorian guide, this walking tour takes you on a “behind-the-stones” look at several of the cemetery’s mausoleums. Participants will learn about these iconic stone structures while listening to the stories of the Oakland residents buried within. Each mausoleum is decorated for the holidays by local artists and designers.
The historic cemetery is the final resting place of many of the city’s top business and civic leaders, as well as politicians.

Jonesboro Annual Christmas Parade
Jonesboro will hold its annual Christmas Parade on Dec. 1 in the city’s historic district.
The theme of this year’s parade is “A Motown Christmas.” The route begins at Arnold Elementary School, 216 Stockbridge Rd., and end at Lee Street Park. Immediately following the parade the city will hold a tree lighting at the park. This event will include live music and photos with Santa.

The Kinsey Sicks: “Things You Shouldn’t Say”
The audience can journey along with four friends from San Francisco who had a life-changing epiphany at a Bette Midler concert that led to them to form “The Kinsey Sicks” in an effort to find joy during the darkest days of the AIDS crisis.
The event, presented by Congregation Bet Haverim, will be held Dec. 1 at St. Mark United Methodist Church.
The group, called “America’s Favorite Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet,” shares its funny, inspiring and, at times, heartbreaking tale, and showing that hatred and deceit can be fought with humor and heart. The performance explore the age of Trump, racism, AIDS, extreme macrame and Bette Midler.

GSU Gala Holiday Concert
Join in this Atlanta tradition that goes back more than 20 years. The annual Georgia State University Gala Holiday Concert will bring together 200 talented student and faculty performers from the university’s school of music in a celebration of the this festive season.
The concert will be held at the Rialto Center for the Arts in Atlanta.
Carroll Freeman is the artistic director for the performance.
