The month before Halloween is a great time to catch the very, very super scary horror movies in Atlanta. Sure, Fathom Events will host a 35th anniversary showing of "Ghostbusters" at area theaters Oct. 6 and 10, and Plaza Theater is showing "Hocus Pocus" pre-Halloween. But you can get so much creepier than that.

Go ahead, buy tickets to one of these Atlanta-area fright films. And get ready to scream:

"Jeepers Creepers 3"

Oct. 24

Atlanta theaters that screen Fathom Events, including Regal Atlantic Station Stadium 18 IMAX & RPX & VIP (261 19th Street NW, Atlanta) and other to be revealed when tickets go on sale Oct. 4

More gore, horror creatures on a feeding frenzy on this one-night-only encore event. Short story: The last day of the Creeper's 23-day feeding frenzy is approaching, and a task force assembles for a hellbent battle.

Horror masterpiece for the ages still strikes an eerie note when Dr. Frankenstein dares defy the circle of life by creating a human monster, the inimitable Boris Karloff.

"It Chapter Two"

Starlight Drive-In Theatre 2000 Moreland Ave. SE, Atlanta. 404-627-5786

You know it's out there, but where? Steven King/Pennywise fans can catch the second, and some say superior, "It" movie at many different venues this pre-Halloween season in the Atlanta metro area. We just think the drive-in makes this R-rated horror film extra scary.

"Tigers Are Not Afraid"

Plaza Theater 1049 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE, Atlanta. 470-225-6503

Creepy movies in an old-school theater, coming right up.

2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1; 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2; 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3

Aaaahhhhhh! That's the sound of the yelling inside your head when orphaned kids star in this haunting horror fairy tale. www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=8&v=KyoE0mSJXO8
