Sno-cone season is here and Atlanta has plenty of shaved ice and snoballs to melt over!
While there's not exactly an avalanche of sno-cone spots in the Atlanta area, there is a flurry of businesses serving up these icy concoctions in every tasty flavor under the sun.
Whether you favor the traditional, Hawaiian, or the sweetness called "shaved snow," these food trucks, storefronts and small restaurants have some tasty, cool treats.

The scoop: Kelly and Kenny Keith expand their "decadent and memorable" gourmet donut and coffee experience to include shaved ice at the Buckhead location in summer.

Fun fact: Sure, you can order one of the donuts Bon Glaze is famous for when you visit, but why not take advantage of its four types of thick-sliced bacon available instead?

The scoop: The Five Points Hokulia is part of a multi-state Hawaiian Shave Ice franchise with authentic flavors that literally come from the islands (via shipping), including a luscious , dark purple grape. This Atlanta ice favorite is seeking a more permanent location as of June. Right now, find them at local food and ice cream festivals and on most weekends at the Moreland Avenue locale, which is down from the Edgewood Shopping Plaza and right next to the Sherwin-Williams paint store. Keep up with them on Facebook so you don't miss any of these cool, tropical flavors.

Fun fact: Hokulia Shave Ice Five Points' most popular topping is a Sno Cap made of sweetened condensed milk. And if you tag the restaurant on a photo of yourself enjoying shaved ice on Facebook or Instagram, you could be chosen as photo of the month and receive free shaved ice that month.

The scoop: This low-key sno-cone shop also has a food truck that appears at various events around town.
Must-try flavors: Honeydew melon, pomegranate-cranberry, peanut butter, tamarind, popcorn
Fun fact: The owner, KO, offers free games for kids and a TV to watch while you enjoy your snoball.
Dominic's On The Bayou Handcrafted Snoballs
The food truck appears around Atlanta and is based out of the restaurant at 3300 Marjan Drive, Atlanta. 404-981-6886. www.dominicsonthebayou.com.
The scoop: A foodie's delight, these handcrafted, New Orleans-inspired snoballs start with a block of ice made from filtered water. The shaving style makes it the consistency of fluffy snow, which Dominic's adorns with handcrafted syrups, some made with local fruit.
Must-try flavors: Watermelon, pineapple or anything with homemade strawberry sauce
Fun fact: Dominic's serves snoballs in compostable cups and uses organic sugar.

Strawberry Fields Market and Ice Ice Baby SnoBalls

The scoop: The market in historic Roswell sells locally-sourced produce and also serves up New Orleans-style shaved ice in a form it calls snoBalls. You can take them to go or sit on the patio on fair days.
Must-try flavors: Chocolate sno-cone with fresh seasonal fruit and cantaloupe sno-cone stuffed with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on top
Fun fact: Wednesdays are Mystery SnoBall Day and when they're not too busy, the snoBall makers will help you concoct your own flavor.
Big Easy Sno-Balls

The scoop: Set in a drive-up gas station, Big Easy has New Orleans-style sno-cones in more than 80 flavors and combinations. Toppings include condensed milk, cream and marshmallow.
Must-try flavor: Strawberry shortcake sno-ball "stuffed" with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Fun fact: Big Easy Sno-Balls was started in Canton before moving to Woodstock, where it plans to stay.

The scoop: You pronounce the name like "snow," and Sun-O's specialty is Asian-style milky-sweet ice shaved with a special machine that makes a fluffy base for a choice of toppings, from fruit to syrups and even red beans.

Fun fact: Available toppings include corn flakes, Kit Kat bars or gummy worms, and lychee is available as a fruit topping.
